Gal Gadot Apologizes for “Imagine” Video, Says It Was in Poor Taste: “It Wasn’t the Right Thing” on Bigo Feed

Gal Gadot has acknowledged that her ‘Imagine’ video, which sparked controversy, was in “poor taste.” She admitted that it was not the right thing to do.

In a recent interview with InStyle, Gal Gadot expressed her regret over the controversial “Imagine” video she participated in. The “Wonder Woman” actress acknowledged that the video was in “poor taste” and “premature,” and that it wasn’t the right thing to do at the time. Gadot revealed that she had been closely following the pandemic situation in Europe and Israel before filming the video in March 2020.

Gadot admitted that she had anticipated the direction that events were heading towards. However, she acknowledged that the decision to gather a team of famous personalities to perform the John Lennon tune, including Jimmy Fallon, Natalie Portman, and Will Ferrell, was too hasty. According to the “Wonder Woman” actress, it was not the right moment, and it was inappropriate. She further added that despite having pure intentions, the outcome missed the mark.

As the COVID-19 pandemic started to spread across the United States, Gal Gadot shared a video on social media. In the clip, she reflected on how the virus had impacted the entire globe and left her feeling philosophical after spending six days in self-quarantine. Gadot explained that she had been inspired by an Italian man who played “Imagine” on his trumpet for his neighbors in lockdown. She then proceeded to sing the 1971 hit, with other celebrities like Jimmy Fallon, Maya Rudolph, and Zoe Kravitz taking turns to sing a line.

However, Gadot’s video received criticism from some quarters, with critics suggesting that celebrities with wealth should be doing more than just singing to aid coronavirus pandemic victims. Numerous social media users opined that the celebrities participating in Gadot’s video ought to “open their wallets” and “contribute funds to resources that are truly beneficial to those in need.”

According to one individual, there are famous personalities who are generously contributing funds to assist those in need amid the COVID-19 pandemic while others are not. Gadot had previously addressed the issue in an interview with Vanity Fair in October 2020, reiterating that her intentions were pure but admitting that it was not the appropriate action to take at that time.

At times, despite having good intentions, our efforts to do a good deed may not be the right one. This is what she shared, stating that she wanted to spread positivity and love to the world.
